Events

Furcon, San Jose CA

Accessibility lead, 2019 to present

Worked with Board of event to create department, policies, and procedures to ensure ADA compliance and service for attendees and guests of 5000-plus annual event. Expanded services from nonexistent to include ADA compliance, reserved accessible seating, line management priority, assistance with hotel reservations for ADA rooms or needs, etc. Coordinate with many other departments from hotel/venue layouts and BEOs, registration, security and line management, operations, etc. on ADA issues. wrote and presented staff trainings. Currently managing 2-4 staff and up to 8 additional volunteers; expanding to ASL interpreters and improved captioning on main stage in 2026.

Another Furry Convention (AFC), Ontario CA

Accessibility department head, 2025 to present

Instituted the department, wrote policy and procedure for event, wrote and presented staff trainings, and implemented policies at event. Established line management procedures and ADA access to major events.

BigBadCon, SF Bay Area

Department head and consultant since 2018. Worked with Board and community leads to create department and policies. Improved signage and physical accessibility, issued guidelines for improved access to tabletop gaming to gamemasters and staff. Developed and instituted a loaner kit for accessible gaming gear to assist players with dexterity and vision issues.

Worldcon 80 (ChiCon) in 2022, Chicago

Accessibility co-lead

Assisted with interpreter management, supervised line and elevator management, and coordinated pickup and dropoff of mobility gear rentals. Led event management, seating arrangements, and line management for evening events. 

Worldcon 76 in 2018, San Jose

Accessibility department, assistant/second

Managed mobility equipment rental pickup and return from attendees to vendor; ensured that attendees and special guests with disabilities had appropriate seating at special events; assisted attendees with mobility equipment; assisted with line management.

Created and taught a training for volunteer NERT/CERT workers on how to use a wheelchair to safely assist victims in an emergency, including use of brakes and foot support, safety of the rider, how to safely lift a wheelchair, and how to assist a person with physical needs.
